A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US

Joe has been diving since 1991, and has well over 13 000 dives as a military, public safety, commercial, recreational and technical diver. Joe has been teaching diving since 1995 and, teaches public safety to both the Canadian Combat Divers and on the civilian side with COJO Diving’s public safety diving school, COJO Rescue.

He has also completed several missions with the Canadian Armed Forces and is currently the president of MAKO Diving and Marine Services Inc. and COJO Rescue, which carries out public safety diving for many police forces throughout New Brunswick, Canada.

Joe has written courses such as the PADI Public Safety Dive Supervisor Distinctive Specialty course, to train senior public safety team members how to act as a dive supervisor within a team context, and the Lightweight Surface-Supplied, and, Public Safety Equipment Manager specialties to augment the programs COJO Rescue is offering already.

In the commercial diving industry, Joe is also certified and employed as a Dive Medical Technician and Hyperbaric Chamber Operator.

Robert Bull graduated from Holland College's commercial diving program in 2006. After this, he spent a year in the Gulf of Mexico as a tender for Cal Dive International, and working with a local company, specializing in offshore oil construction and hydro dam maintenance.

In 2008 he decided to go to Scotland to the Underwater Center to take the saturation diving course. He then spent the next 8 years traveling between the Middle East and Asia doing oil field construction while also working locally during off time.

In 2015 Robert decided to take a position as a general labourer for Loram Maintenance of Way and was quickly promoted to operator specializing in ballast cleaning and undercutting, all over Canada and the USA.

In 2019 he decided to take the diving supervisors course and spent the next 5 years diving and supervising locally before accepting the role of general manager for Mako Diving and Marine Services. Robert has done extensive work on hydroelectric dams, heavy pipeline, underwater burning, heavy lifts, concrete fabrication, inspection and bridge repair.

Gary began his career as an automotive mechanic in 1987. From there he completed his apprenticeship at NBCC S.J. in 1992. He then worked in the industry until 2011. He has always had a knack for tinkering with mechanical things.

From there Gary decided to work as a deck hand aboard a science research vessel. He has always been around the salt water with his Dad. He then decided to become a Captain. He completed his certification with Holland College in 2017 and took over as the Captain on the same vessel, the "Fundy Spray". It was there that he met Joe George and Connie Bishop of COJO Diving. Gary always had a blast when COJO was aboard the Fundy Spray.

In 2020 covid changed Gary’s life and he decided he wanted a change. In 2022 Gary came on board and began his career as the Maintenance Manager with COJO Rescue. Gary’s been with COJO since, and stayed when it changed to MAKO Diving and Marine Services Inc.

He is an important part of the team, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and kept in working order. Gary oversees MAKO’s maintenance program to ensure that all inspections and servicing is kept up to date.
